Shelby Lynn Turner was born March 6th, 1987, the third child of Zachary and Sarah Turner. The only girl and baby of the family, Shelby was certainly doted upon. A bright child, Shelby was reading by age two and writing by four. She excelled in primary grades, identified as gifted in first grade. Always a favorite of her teacher's, Shelby was respectful, well-behaved, and mild mannered. In spite of the drama going on at home, Shelby remained fairly well adjusted and pleasant. After her father found out about her mother's infidelity, their marriage crumbled as did the Turner families home life. She was young enough to be forgiving, but old enough and smart enough to understand the pain and sadness around her. Oddly enough, she didn't hold a grudge against her mother, though she was more than happy to stay in Crocker Park with her father. She often went to stay with her mother without her brother's and maintained a better relationship with her than either of her older siblings. She sort of took on the role of nurturer in the house in her mother's absence, often cooking meals and cleaning up around the house in an effort to help her father. She had a good head on her shoulders and often took her emotions she was feeling about the divorce and broken home she was now from, and threw them into her studies, or sports, or household chores. Always one to believe that from every negative comes a positive, Shelby focused a lot on how she could channel her energy into the positive, and that was basically her coping mechanism.
Going off to college was an adventure for Shelby. She'd made up her mind in the third grade that she wanted to be a teacher and was happy to pursue a B.A. in Elementary Education with a minor in Deaf Education from Jackson University. Excelling in all her classes, as expected, she graduated May of 2009 summa cum laude. Immediately after graduating she was hired at the school where she did her student teaching internship, Hilldale Elementary. She currently works as a kindergarten teacher there and completed her first semester as a teacher there this past fall. Shelby in completely in love with her job and takes great pride in her classroom decorations. To say she is passionate about teaching would be an understatement. In fact, she's almost too passionate. She often goes above and beyond the call of duty to provide for her students (often buying sneakers, winter coats, etc for the ones who come from poor backgrounds). She works at with the after school tutoring program and is the chair of the schools Sunshine Committee.
With her plate full at Hilldale, it's a wonder she has time to do anything else. But somehow, she makes it work. When she isn't at school, she's teaching a yoga class at the gym, volunteering at the soup kitchen or habitat for humanity, or engaging in one of her number of hobbies. She sort of follows the motto that busy means good and often uses volunteering or working out as a way to distract herself from dealing with her own problems. She has a tendency to put everyone else's needs in front of her own, but she wouldn't have it any other way. She's happiest pleasing others but is by no means a doormat. She has her fair share of snark and bite, a bit of a dry sense of humor, and can certainly have a temper if you push her buttons. Overall, she is extremely kind-hearted, generous, and giving.

5. Loves to travel and has been to: Greece, Canada, Brazil, Spain, France, England, Ireland, Chile, China, New Zealand, and Australia.
6. Has a cat named Ginny Weasley.
